Introducing The New Power Blog

Over the past few months the Power Blog evolved from a rough idea to a full blown marketing tool that offers something to everybody. The member numbers are increasing daily, which is a good sign for a great product.

Take your time and explore the new Power Blog. It has even more features than before and a new home as well.
http://www.power-blog.com

This top-level domain will give the Power Blog even more visibility with the search engines and it is easier to remember. It also makes it easier to separate the Power Blog from other tool available at IMT Global.

After more than a month of beta testing (Thanks to all the beta testers, your gift is waiting in your PRO members area.) the Power Blog PRO is ready for prime time. This is truly a milestone in the history of the Power Blog and it will set new levels for others to reach. There is nothing comparable out there and I will do my best to stay one step ahead.

Read more about IMT Power Blog PRO.

I wish everybody a happy new year and much success with your business in 2006.

Take care,
Peter Dobler

P.S.: To all current Power Blog members, Please make sure that you adjust your links from your website to the new location. Simply login to you’re account and copy & paste the links. The old location will stay active for another few days and will then be turned off. A permanent redirect link will easy the switch, but it is no guarantee that everything will work correctly.

Rich Jerk Demystified

Being active in the internet marketing business for a while, I really thought I have seen it all. Well, apparently not. While reading his obnoxious sales letter I couldn’t help but tell myself “What an idiot”.His language is provocative, sometimes crossing the line of common decency, but I have to admit. I read the sales letter from start to finish.

Maybe it’s disbelieve, maybe it’s the anticipation of how bad it can get, or just plain curiosity that kept me reading. The Rich Jerk caught my attention after receiving a whole bunch of spam emails and his appearance in quite a few forum topics. This guy is all over the place and every day more people are talking about him.

I thought, maybe I need to buy a copy of his report to validate his claims. Guess what; even his thank you page continues his theme. He’s greeting you with “You’re smarter than I thought”.

The purchase and download process is as smooth as you expect to be and he keeps his theme throughout the whole time. From the sales letter to the thank you page and the ebook itself, everything flows and is kept in the same color scheme. I have to say, very professional. Of course, you can download pretty pages for free. Now it is time to dissect the content of his book.

The book is composed of 0% fluff, 40% common knowledge (at least for me), 20 die hard webmaster and SEO practices (basic things you need to know if you want to call yourself a webmaster), 20% new ideas (maybe not new, but I haven’t thought of it), 10% “blackhat” SEO practices (the kind that gets your domain name banned from the search engines) and 10% illegal stuff (at least illegal if your website resides in the USA).

I don’t want to get into hot water with the Rich Jerk. That’s why I don’t reveal the exact content of the ebook, but I have to admit that I got one or two new ideas from the book, which I’m actively using and I’m pleased with the results so far. Is it worth the price? Maybe not. I bought worst for more money and that makes it a bargain in my view.

The best lesson of the Rich Jerk experience is to analyze his sales strategy and how he kept the same look and feel from the initial promotion, to the sales letter and then the end product, the ebook. I believe this is the best part. At least it is professional and it keeps your attention far longer than anything else I read before.

If you still think that you need to see it to believe it, read his sales letter, but then you’re on your own.

Content Is King

If you followed the latest developments of the major search engines you will know that there is a huge change in how rankings are calculated. Of course you will never get a straight answer from Google, Yahoo or MSN, but recent chatter in the SEO community and my own observations indicate that something big is happening.

For all of you who don’t know what SEO is or don’t care much about SEO, you can move on and skip this post. Everybody else, pay attention. If you are a webmaster, who pushes SEO to its limits, you might be on the verge to get blacklisted by the search engines.

Sounds too dramatic? Well, read this shocking new report and if you still think that your tricks will never be uncovered, good luck.

The only way to play nice with the search engines is to create content rich websites. But not just any content. You need to categorize and scrutinize your content on an ongoing base. Creating a theme for your website is essential and well organized theme based websites will be favored by the search engines.

Do you need to write all the pages by yourself? Of course not. However the area where you could by a nifty little tool and create hundreds of keyword stuffed chunk pages in minutes is definitely over. I’m not saying that you can’t use software to generate your content pages, but you need to carefully plan this. Create a template that doesn’t look like a generated page helps. Organize content by theme helps even more.

But there are 2 main principles you need to keep in mind.

1. Gradually increase the numbers of your pages over time. Creating hundreds of pages in a single day is not humanly possible and therefore you will get flagged by the search engines.
2. Start working on your back links. These are links pointing back to your website from other pages. Reciprocal links are Ok, but not as valuable as incoming links with no outgoing links. You should follow these principles: “More incoming links + fewer outgoing links = better search engine rankings”.

Based on Brad Callen’s “SEO made easy”, back links are the most important factor to achieve high search engine rankings. Want proof? Go to Google. Type in the keyword ‘click here’. Who’s number 1? It’s Adobe.com. Ok, now check out the source html code (menu->view->source for IE). Try to find the phrase ‘click here’. You will not find it. Why is Adobe number 1? Because they have millions of back links titled ‘click here’.

Back links like this are almost impossible to achieve for a small website. Especially if your main business is affiliate marketing. In this case there’s only one option. Write articles. Articles are the new currency of the internet. The internet exists because of content and articles are content. Lot’s of content. Remember, search engines are based on content. Fresh content is even better.

So why is it so important to rank well in search engines? Every internet business needs traffic to survive. Internet marketing and affiliate marketing are a numbers game. Search engines provide huge numbers when it’s done right. Best of all it’s free. Of course you could pay for traffic, but chances are that you will go broke before you have a chance to make a profit.

Ok, I think you’d agree that articles are pretty much the only way to get decent off-page SEO and subsequent higher rankings. So, what if you are not a writer? No problem. You have the option to research the public domain directories and reuse its content. Repackaging free content is big business these days.

You could hire a writer and pay per article or for a full package. Writers are everywhere and they typically have reasonable prices. Check out http://www.elance.com for a good source of ghostwriters.

Join a membership program. Some membership programs offer original articles that you can use for your own good. It pays big time to take your time and to personalize these articles. This way you avoid creating duplicate content. Which doesn’t help you rankings either.

Now what do you do? You have the articles, but still no back links. Well, you need to publish your work. This is tedious work and no fun at all. Searching for article directories and submitting them manually is too time consuming. Luckily there are better alternatives. I didn’t say free alternatives, just better ones. If you are on a budget and don’t want to invest in your business, keep submitting the articles manually.

For the true entrepreneurs, here are 2 valuable options to consider:

1. ArticleAnnouncer by Jason Potash. This is the article publishing machine itself. This is more than just another piece of software. It is a complete package for the serious publisher. Worth every penny you spend.
2. SubmitYourArticle.com by Steve Shaw. You don’t need to run the publisher on your own computer and your own website. Everything is done automatically. Steve’s service submits your articles to hundreds of article directories. This is a paid membership site. I personally prefer this over software running on my computer. But this is my personal preference.

That’s it. Now you know what it takes to create a content rich, high traffic website that ranks well with search engines. If you are able to achieve this milestone, you will be able to pull massive profits from your website.

The Race Is On!

Maybe you already know that I released a new version of the Power Blog the last few days. There are so many new features that I must be out of my mind to give it away for free.

The paid membership version Power Blog PRO is now in beta testing. So far it is going very well and the scheduled launch date of January 1st 2006 is still on track. Thank you Beta testers for a fine job.

The hottest new feature is the membership contest. The rules are simple. Whoever refers the most new members (Free or PRO) at the time the membership counter hits 2000 wins the first prize. There are 6 cash prizes to win. If you’re not already a member, go ahead, register and invite all your friends. It is free and it is a lot of fun.

A word of caution: There is a zero tolerance policy for spammers. If there’s a SPAM complaint against a member, this will lead automatically to termination of the membership. Regardless of membership level. No exceptions. So, don’t spam.

Another new feature is the bonus section. Your membership with the Power Blog comes with a lot of benefits. The bonus section contains software and ebooks for you to download. High quality content for free. New items are added frequently and other items are exchanged. The list is changing constantly. Make sure to check back often to secure the latest bonus before it is gone.

If you haven’t login lately now’s the time to do so. Check out the new programs and explore the new features.

Take care,
Peter Dobler

PS: Unfortunately I had to lock down the comment section to registered members only. Some clowns posted very nasty comments and I got tired of deleting this spam.
