A few days ago I announced that the Power Blog is fully integrated into Twitter. Every activity will be tweeted to the Power Blog Twitter account and all its followers will get an update.
This is great to keep your followers up to date. You can add your Twitter ID to the Power Blog and you will receive updates on any status change, posts you wrote and affiliate programs you added. This will be tweeted to your followers as well.
This is the basic workings of Twitter, but that's just one little thing Twitter does. The real power of Twitter is to stay in constant contact with your followers. Your goal should be to create a follower list as big as it gets.
How do you do that?
Easy!
Offer a gift to anybody who follows your tweets. Onceyou get a new follower, immediately return the favor and then send a direct message with the link to the gift.

Then something unexpected started to happen. These guys followed me back. Wow, Joel Comm, the Adsense guru, is following the Power Blog Twitter. The Mike Filsaime and Willy Crawford followed. I was puzzeled what was happeing. Also, I receive direct messages from thes guys as well, containing special links to thank you gifts.
Now it started to dawn on me. This was yet another income stream of the Internet Marketing gurus by handing out free gifts and then start the upsell sales tactics. Using Twitter as the ultimate list building machine is genious.
But the biggest surprise to me was what happend next.
All a sudden I received emails from Twitter telling me that I have a new follower. These emails kept coming over the next day and ever since. My follower list is growing at a phenomenal pace. Why does this happen? If you know how Twitter works, it will not surprise you.
The Power Blog tweets on a regulare base. This means that the Twitter accounts of the Internet Marketing gurus will retweet these tweets. Follwoing me so far? These guys have tousands of followers. All these followers check their Twitter account from time to time. If the Power Blog keeps tweeting on a regular base, chances are that a decent number of people see these tweets.
They click on the Power Blog tweet just to see what this is. And when arriving at the target URL there will be a request to follow the Power Blog Twitter and receive a gift.
