Do You Have a Mailing List for Blog?

The best kept secret to a successful blog is the mailing list. This is a list of people who have subscribed or registered to receive emails from you in the form of a newsletter or promotional emails.

When you set up your business blog, you should have a form on the front page for readers to subscribe to your mailing list. There are many form plug-ins to choose from for different types of blog platforms.

Your list is built one person, one email at a time. Even if you only have one subscriber to your newsletter, begin sending information to them that will benefit them, and that they will most likely respond to. You never want to send email to your readers simply for the sake of sending them something.

The purpose of the email is to keep in touch with your readers so they will continue to return to your site. Therefore, be sure you offer them something of value in your newsletter or promotion. You should also offer your readers something for free for signing up to your newsletter on your blog. Do you have a service you could offer an hour of for free or half an hour? Or how about a product you sell? If you can offer your readers a small token of appreciation, they will return the favor by subscribing to your email list.

There are several email management programs to choose from on the web so finding one that suits your needs won’t be difficult at all. They range from a simple email management program for up to 100 subscribers, to a full blown ecommerce system that supports everything from your email lists to a shopping cart and so on. Of course these come with a monthly fee, so if you’re just starting out with your business blog, you may not need a full ecommerce system yet.

Elements for Creating a Social Buzz

Much coveted, today, are the avenues and keys for generating a lot of buzz concerning topics you want to share and promote.  To many, writing has it's intrinsic capability to communicate in the words and points which are discussed.  Good writing is not merely the gift of a few, but I'd like to share some concise and straightforward elements for creating the desired buzz, or viral ability to spread a message to a wide audience.


1. Remember to Recognize Brand Awareness.


One of the most well known and memorable attributes of today's society are the social connections, status symbols, icons, and interactions of brands that derive a social awareness to go with their products and services.  When describing ideas and topics, remember to draw lines between what is real and relevant in todays well known brands or icons.  Perhaps, give your own opinion or experience with the product, or connect it to the relevant interests of your readers.  Even more important in certain cases, than social proof of profit or testimonials, are the energy and feelings that the use of the product evokes.  Like shared times with friends and loved ones, memories that become enjoyable when they are conjured up at the mention of the product or service.  Sometimes you identify with the brand label and other times it's own USP (unique selling proposition) is meaningful to you in certain ways.  When mentioning brands and their awarenesses, connect ideas that bring recognition and realization to light in the minds of your readers.


2.  Ask Questions.


It's a good strategy to keep in mind to bring up relevant questions for enlightenment on subjects you're discussing.  Raising questions causes readers to think more, to apply reasoning and compare spaces and times of incidences they've been through themselves.  Which, in turn, is exactly how they will respond to the particular issue in question, with a personal relevancy and memorable experience with the topic or product discussed.  You can go from general questions to more specific questions, draw a conclusion or make the reader decide what they believe about the subject.


3. Give Examples.


Whether you have actual personal experiences to share or have heard stories of interest, give examples explaining more about the causes and effects that are happening with your product or service.  Use your popular search feature, go to different search engines, browse social bookmarking networks looking for topics related to your own and give examples that will bring revelation to your subject.  Even go to popular sites seeking celebrity knowledge and situations that provoke excitement or amusement.  Draw lines between cause and effect, dig deeper into neutral areas and find reasons and purposes, understand the issues and relate your ideas to the readers, complete the explaination to satisfy your reader's curiosity.


4.  Use the 3 Point Principle.


Depending on how long your article or blog is and how many strategies you are using in your promotion, try to bring out between 3 to 5 points that can be of value to your audience.  Think of a triangle or a pentagon, relate the different ideas and draw conclusions between them. This will not leave readers questioning why and how, but it will cause them to duplicate what they are reading.  You can write them in a list if you like and discuss them purposefully as they relate to each other.


5.  Use Colorful Language.


One of my favorite subjects in school was English and when it came time to do creative writing, it was one of my favorite things to think of colorful words and adjectives to do what's called "Personification" of inanimate objects.  You can create fiction or non-fiction with adjectives and adverbs and colorful verbs that describe a lot of movement or action.  People become attached to action verbs and energetic adverbs that describe them.  It makes you want to read on and find out what happens in the end.  Adjectives normally describe nouns, or inanimate objects, and adverbs describe how a verb happens.
For example: a noun like (way or road) can be described by an adjective like (meandering).
The meandering road/way had several curves and we travelled far.
Example: a verb like (boating) can be described by the adverb (recklessly). 
Our day at the lake was spent boating recklessly so we were told to be more careful.
You may want to use a dictionary and a thesaurus for writing this way, but you can find many resources online for not much effort.  It takes doing your research and due diligence to find out if your topic is worth writing about and then sharing it personally and warmly with people like you would share with friends.  As far as what causes the buzz, that's within your writing and ideas and how you communicate them.  So, do your research and write an outline, plan your thesis, cross the barriers of knowledge between you and your readers.

We all know the importance of traffic generation for the success of any online venture - be it a website selling some products or services, or simply a money making blog. In order to make any profit out of the venture, you first need to have targeted, high quality, contextually relevant traffic on it! "People will buy what you've got only if they can first see what you've got!" And that summarizes, in one short sentence, how essential it is to have customized traffic directed your way! Let's take a look at how effective some ofthe more popular ways of generating traffic are.
Pros And Cons Of Traffic Generation Ways
Article marketing.
A bit time consuming, but can direct a decent volume of quality traffic your way, as people who read those articles will most probably be directly or indirectly interested in the products or services that the article talks about.
Viral marketing.
Leaving the URL of your website in random forums, discussion boards, YouTube videos, as well as in all your outgoing emails, as a signature, will lead to a pretty high quantity of traffic generation no doubt, but the quality of that traffic is highly questionable.
Link exchanges.
Exchanging links with related websites can be useful, but exchanging links with just about anyone and everyone will not really serve much purpose, because the search engines, though they give a very high importance to the number of back links you have, also take into consideration the relevance of the content, on those source link pages, to your website.

You're doing well if you have a few lists to mail, whether they be shared mailing lists or dowline builders. I'd like to suggest a few here that have had good results for me.

Highly expensive and equally misused method of traffic generation! Before you can figure out what's happening, your competitors would have started clicking on these pay-per-click ads!
Directory pages.
Well-organized directory pages of related products are a useful resource for visitors and can assure a fairly decent percentage of both one-way and reciprocal links.
