It is amazing how popular opinion blurs the actual facts. For years we drunk the Google cool aid and we were loving every minute of it. Until you realized that you just contribute to Google's financial profits without contributing to your own bottom-line.
In other words, you spend your advertising money with Google and Google made the profits not you. This is about to change. A couple of months ago I wrote 2 articles on this subject.
The topic was to tap into a a forgot search engine, MSN. I took the theory to the test and I have to say, the first month was disappointing. I didn't get the promised results, at least not in the time frame advertised. But I gave it another try. This time I planned for the long run.
When I checked my web stats the last few days I noticed a massive change in the traffic volume, much more traffic than I've ever seen on these sites. Plus the origin of the traffic surprised me. Yes, MSN was one of the top search engines sending traffic to my websites, but Yahoo topped them all. Yes, good old Yahoo is now my top traffic source.
Quite frankly I could care less where the traffic is coming from. I make more money, my Adsense profits are skyrocketing and sign ups to my autoresponders are through the roof. What else do you want? Don't forget that Google is still sending traffic my way as well. This didn't change, but I don't have to work like crazy to keep or increase my Google traffic.
Back to the MSN Loophole theory. When you add a brand new website to the rotation, MSN takes it sweet time to index it. Also the addition of new Wordpress blogs takes time for MSN to acknowledge it.
I needed to tweak the approach a little bit. The MSN Loophole theory tells you to fill your Wordpress blogs with canned content from Yahoo ask. I think this is border line against copyright laws. I changed this approach to utilize a more natural blog posting process without writing a single line myself.
Here's my recipe for MSN and Yahoo traffic that use the MSN Loophole as basic and I added some twist on my own:
- Read the MSN Loophole report
- Get the Wordpress Plugin ZipPoster (This is the tool that creates mass posts into the future like you would write it yourself without lifting a finger.)
- Buy some inexpensive PPC ads at 7search.com (most clicks start at $0.01. Just run it until Yahoo and MSN visited your website. After that, dump the PPC, you don't need it anymore)
After doing all this, my web stats are going through the roof and I never look back.
That's how I ditched Google.
